Some of the people that go to the KEY DOWNS actually have large ALTERNATING CURRENT GENERATORS to power their over powered linear amplifiers. The DC powered units require HUGE DC POWER CABLES to deliver the energy necessary to win the key downs. AC power can do the higher wattage with less expensive wire and less risk of burning the vehicle down to the ground. You make power in one of two ways, Low Volts and huge amperes or HIGH VOLTAGES AND LOW AMPS. The FREON crack was just a joke. There aren't any people on this board that run in those competitions that I know of. There is another board out there that specializes in that area.

Um I run a/c alternators on my van. for the dc classes I have 2 450 amp rectifiers. For a/c I just hook to the transformer.

What exactly do you want to know.
