I'm thinking about putting money into an amp soon. Might just spend money on good mods instead.

A properly tuned 29 in front of a low drive amp will outperform a galaxy in front of the same amp. On the positive side, modifications to the
959 are damn near limitless. Google Galaxy 959 modifications and you'll have enough to read for the weekend.

I'm thinking of higher output, receive improvements, and echo if I go with modifications.

Those are all pretty easy to do on that radio. Whose doing the work?

Nice looking radio. I set one up for my mom that looks a lot like that except it doesn't have a frequency counter and the lights are a cool blue color.

I believe so, I can't look at it right now since it's set up at her house. Built-in SWR calibration and everything.
