Since Firestik recommends 18 feet of coax too be in tune with your antenna.
For my base station setups I just figure out multiple lengths of 18 feet
So if I need 100 feet I get 108 feet total because that is 6 lengths of 18 feet.
If I need 50 feet I get 54 feet total because that is 3 lengths of 18 feet.

Does this sound like a good philosophy to follow for Base Stations?
I try to follow the firestik expertise as much as possible.
I figure Firestik engineers know more than I do...ROFL

I don't run a base but I don't think it matters how much you run on a base setup.

if you really want to be dead on. its 1/2 wavelengths with the velocity factor taken into account.

you will get many different opinions though. most say or find on a base with a long run it wont matter.

velocity factor. 8x and lmr 400, 600, bury flex are usually .84 nemal 213 is .66 chose your length wisely

Will 40 feet of this stuff be fine for a Base Station
It's just a Roof Mounted Antron A-99 on a 3 foot tripod mount
I'm running barefoot No Amp
I just want every milli-watt of my 4 watts to get to the antenna
I'm running a Cobra 2000GTL Base
I shouldn't have to Worry about losses at 40 feet right?

RoofTopAntenna DX #999 Wave'in back from central michigan.
Is caveman your CB handle whats your favorite channel? I'll call out for ya
when the skip/DX is rolling. when I get my coax hooked up!!!

Does this S-Meter need re-paired/replace or
is it suppose to hang lower than the other meter
when radio is Not ON????
When people ask for a S-Report should I Minus a S for needle Sag?

I go by caveman or 195 and when skip is rolling I monitor 11, 17, 20, 26, 28, and 35 AM and my home channel is usually 24 or 26 AM. I only transmit on 38 LSB so far.

I plan to buy an in-line signal meter from redmancb in the future. I can put inline like an SWR meter LOL

This way it keeps the old girl all stock and the value UP....
