Hi again.. I live in Tasmania a island of the south east tip of mainland Australia. Its has lots of hills and mountain's and
water everywhere, I live in the huon valley lots apple and berry farms, state forests ... I want to get the best antenna for
skip (DX) if there is such a thing ? I was told the sirio 827 was good ? I run a RM kl203p and have a few older radios in
use. I am getting a pc244 uniden soon from USA but after a new rig too, had got 980 bearcat of eBay but never arrived in
oz so I was refunded the cash and looking at new President and waiting to hear from company at to where I can get one
from... For now I need to source a good antenna ??
Thanks for any help, Darryl

Are you going to hard mount the antenna, meaning are you going with a permanent mount or do you want a magnet mount setup, like Gordon gekko posted for a permanent antenna the 10k is a great antenna, also may want to look at the sirio pl5000 performer. Do some good research before you buy as this is one of the most important things a good system entails is a good antenna and coax. Don't go cheap here is what I always tell people. Spend the extra money and get the best antenna you can afford. JMO.

If you want to talk Skip DX,I will set up a Directional Beam like a 3 or 4 element yagi antenna

Verticals antennas are a little noisy for DX

A Beam Antenna set up Horizontal will works real good for your station

Sirio has a nice 3 and 4 element yagi antenna in they're catalog SY-3 or SY-4

I just got threw putting together my Lightning L4+ quad antenna, which should be good for local and DX since it is Horizontal and Vertical fed...Vertical for local talk, then I can switch over to Horizontal for DX!

Haven't got it up in the air yet on my tower, hopefully maybe next weekend I can get to that part, but it's looking good so far...

And they do ship "Down-Under"...There's a guy in Southern Australia that bought one...

Both are most likely equal as being they are both 5/8th wave antennas. The gain master is listed as .625wl (5/8th). The 2016 is listed as 5/8th wave. I’ve only had experience with the 2016, and it worked well. Easy to tune using the included manual, and HD enough to handle bad weather. The one I messed with went through a pretty rough hurricane and survived with no damage. As I said, I don’t know about the gain master but the 2016 is a good antenna for the money. It’s an HD antenna. Well built. I put one up at about 40ft for a good friend of mine that has since passed away. He talked all over the world on that antenna and a 100w icom radio on SSB. Anyhow, just my experience with the 2016 at least.

if you need the bandwidth get the gainmaster if it'll handle your power .
