Listed as CRT SS FORCE ONE

Weirdest contraption I have ever seen. 10, 11, and 12 meters. Has a usb port on the front and a card slot for camera memory sticks. Just to the left of center is a color tft screen for viewing photographs. It looks like one of the Ranger radios I have seen, but this one came from France. Seems like a bit of a waste to design all of this with stereo sound output and not have SSB in the package. Any body ever see one of these before?

Different radio. This one has AM/FM transmit and receive and a three level power switch.

If it's free it's for me!! That's my motto. Looks like a decent am /fm export. Radio seems to be steered toward the truck driver IMO, to look at photos and maybe charge a phone, I like the waveform setting there, the middle photo. Have you peeked under the hood yet? Is it a single or dual final radio? I agree, ssb would have made that radio a winner IMO, but hey for free how can you complain lol. Anyway cool looking radio.

Further investigation and I have found volumes of information. There are only TWELVE of these in the United States.
It in fact was made in France, imported to the U.S. and made without the permission of the company that designed it,
Ranger. The only reason that this radio is collectable is the CRT brand name on it and it was not approved for manufacture.

I have been investigating this radio and found out that there are only 12 of these in the United States! I think the collect-ability on this radio just went up and price has gone up as well.(I'll add it to my museum)

I just had to take this radio out of the box and test it a bit. Hooked it up on my test bench and it keyed normally and checked the functions. AM/FM worked and showed pretty good modulation. the power levels on dead key was two watts, 5 watts and 10 Watts. Had good swing on AM up to 18 watts on the high power level. Echo works just fine. Got several radio checks and the reports were all good. Looks like a winner, just a crying shame that there is no SSB.

I think if the force 1 had SSB would have really been a popular radio, minus the picture viewing function.

I could not figure out the picture viewing thing at all. Screen is too small and not very good resolution either. The last thing I would want to do would be to watch still photos on a small screen. The screen on back of my camera is larger and brighter than that one. Can you imagine driving down the road and listening to an Ipod?

I'm willing to bet 85-90% of the members here sync there IPods to their radios in the car. I know I do... 8700 songs of commercial free listening, and no CDs to screw with. However, a completely useless funcution on a cb radio. I guess when they designed the radio they were hoping the cars of the fucture did have radios or speakers?? Lol! Silly designers! Here in the "future" we an App called Pandora!

Anyway cool looking radio.Haven't popped the top yet. Still just checking it out. I won't put this into service. It's too rare. I'm going to put it back in the box and put it in my cage.

I am also a Amateur Radio Operator and in most of the bands SSB, CW, and Data are used more often than AM or FM.

I am an ssb talker myself. If it doesn't have ssb, it's not for me lol. But that radio is an exception for sure.

Looks like a decent am /fm export. Actually the radio was imported from France to the US. The Importing company got sued for copyright infringement. Even though they did not build the radio they got busted. That's why there are only 12 of these in the US. The 12 were sold before the law suit was filed. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time to catch this one before it was discarded. It was headed for the electronic recycling company. They just grind them up and process the gold out of them.

Man, then that truly is a rare radio!! I would put it away as well. I do like the looks of it, if it had ssb, it would have made it been better IMO. But yes sir, nice radio. P

Thanks, I just get lucky every now and then and find a jewel. Sometimes I even get to pay a little money for them.

Just currious what would the price be? Since there were on 12 and who knows how many are left? $375.00 to $400.00? It would be for a collector not an end user

I have 7 working radios in my museum but they aint nothing special. I fact I only have 1 that is "rare" a Transonic 23 ch. It's not a very good one at that, but it is the first one i repaired on my own. I inheirited it from my neighbor when he died so its kinda special in that regard. The only info I have found on Transonic is that they only made 2 models before they went bust. Cant even find a schematic or any other technical info. The rest are so common I'm ashamed to list them. I guess my Cobra 29xlr would be the next oldest, it works, has strong signal but weak modulation. I have changed everything but the mic. amp. With no luck. One of the xtals has a broken leg that I soldered back. I need to replace it but trying to find a 11.530mhz has proved to be a pain. My Navajo trc433 works all the way. I use it when I'm outside. I call it my front porch model. I have my Galaxy 959,wich is new, in service as my base. And my Philly built 66 I just got cleaned up and recieves/talks so well that it's in use also. I may put it in the mobile. I am puting one of the cobra 19s in a Igloo ice cooler with a battery from a power wheels jeep and short ant for takeing to the river when fishing, camping ect.
