pic of my antenna as installed (loaded in public). Changes and cleanup are in the works. The antenna has to move over for the canoes to have room to ride. That pic is to come when finished. Where the two bolts are in line is path to ground using the rack then to chases ground. The finished ground will be a heaver wire and run to the frame. Picture did not make it we try later

Yes Sir, It is a 102" steel whip. An older one at that. The attached nut at bottom is a solid attachment to the whip.

Purpose is to add send/receive as in a ground-plane or the proximity of that. I will be testing with/without this device. It is connected to the tx side at this time. The whole ground (rx) is tied in with the grounding of the lower antenna, the "H" frame and is grounded to truck chassis. I have left that antenna alone after talking to my friend across town some 40+ miles. I have turned to researching the second antenna mounted on the fender of the truck. The wilson trucker antenna is said to be set with the unit as is then the 49.5" stinger. My antenna is not of that measured height so I have placed the stinger from a wilson 1000 in place. Testing is being done looking at the swr/grounding arrangement. Being March madness and both of my Tennessee Vols. and in the sweet 16 now has caused a holding pattern on testing. I have been informed the yard needs mowing and she wants me to pull the plow in the garden. She pulled the plow last year and is assisted with a walker these days of late.

I'd listen to what JJD has to say about antennas. He knows his stuff.
