I have a 130 amp alt in my pickup, and my amp can draw up to 100 amps max. I don't even have it cranked up, and my trucks rpm drops about 150-200 when I kick the amp on. I've used it while driving of course and it works fine.

If you have a small car or pickup you will have a smaller alternator I'm sure.

As long as you don't own a compact car with a pea sized alternator, should be fine.

Yes it should work, just make sure not to run the radio without the truck on. If you install it and it pulls heavy on the car, go to sears and get the biggest battery that will fit or add a 2nd battery, I believe sears has a line of batteries that are pretty good. This is JMO. Also make sure to use at least #6awg or larger, me I would go with #4awg with a good fuse holder near the battery. Go to any decent stereo shop and you should be able to get the length of wire needed cut to the length you want. Also use the same size wire for the ground and make all grounds as short as possible and have them go to either a seat post bolt, or under the dash to the steering assembly bolts that go to the frame. Basically anything to the frame of the vehicle. Also ale sure to sand down any paint and use no-ox on all connections to keep the rust away. Again all of this is JMO, but take the time and install the proper wire and also your antenna system. Don't skimp out on it either. Anyway god bless and good luck.

130a alternator will handle a 1x4. Not to the amps full potential, but the difference is undetectable to the naked ear...or on the receiving stations end.
