Hey. Just joined the site and looking for some help. Just installed a radio in the truck and I am getting a constant clicking noise and a hum out of the ex. speaker. The hum stays constant, too. It doesn't rise and fall with rpms. Any help would be appreciated!

Try It with the key off it could be something in the electronic ignition though that usually changes with rpms also fuel pumps can make news

Is its wired to the battery, fuse box, or 12 volt plug?

The amp is wired to the battery and the radio is wired to a plug.

The amp is wired to the battery and the radio is wired to a plug.
When wired to a plug that can pick up a lot of engine noise. Running it straight to the battery is best.

Sounds like a good filter to get rid of the RPM noise like the RF Limited Magnum noise filter is good. but need more info on the set-up? are you using an amp? Jumpers? Type of Coax? Type of Antenna? How wired radio? Directly to battery or using cigarette lighter plug etc...?

Don't think its engine noise because it does it when the truck is off. Connex CX3300 FHP. Texas Star DX 250 amp, 1' RG-213/U Mil-Spec jumper. 18' RG 5 8A/U coax. 5' Fire Stik. The noise level drops when on ch. 18 and disappears when on ch.20.

your radio might be picking up something electronic somewhere in your electrical system. you can pick up almost any kind of noise when using a cigarette lighter plug. best thing to do is wire the radio directly to the battery. that way your getting clean power instead of dirty power like you get with a cigarette lighter plug. also since you are using a Connex the best thing to do is wired to the battery so its getting full power.

RF Limited Magnum Filter is the best in my opinion for the car. I have tried those shit Bandit Filters and did nothing in past.

PS - Even has connector to go right to radio if want to use or can cut out and put anywhere but nothing better than this RF Limited Magnum filter.

Do you think a peak and tune would help?

A peak and tune just improves the performance of the radio and would be somewhat pointless since you have an amp. That filter 714 mentioned will probably be best.

Has there been a result on this problem as yet? I was thinking of all that load on the 12volt system could there be a shortage of power or are the wires heavy enough (16 gage versa. 8 gage wire). Is this truck a 18 wheeler gasoline/propane? Some big trucks use 18 volt and some are feed from the positive side and not the negative. I really want to know the answer to correct this problem if passable.

Sorry. I am currently offshore. Ordered the rf filter. Waiting to get home to install and check. Had the radio peaked and tuned before I left. Radio is now swinging 60 watts and 500 watts with the amp. Running it in a 07 Dodge 1500. Running 14 gauge wire. Had no noise when hooked to power supply for peak and tune.
