The past couple days I've hit up 38 LSB and it has been rolling really good. Here's some of the people I've talked to. If you're on this list, thanks for coming back to me, 323 in east Kentucky wavin', :-)
The one on the 24th with ?? in place of the DX number I was hesitant to include. I very clearly heard them call out my DX number and then fade out before I heard theirs, and couldn't tune them in over the other contacts. I decided to add them to my log book though because I did hear them call my DX # and location very clearly before they faded out.

Also, if you hear me on here, I realize I may seem a little off frequency to some people. My clarifier has not been unlocked, so it's a receive only clarifier and I'm stuck at whatever frequency the 148 GTL is set to out of the factory, so if you had to tune me in to respond, I apologize.
Edit: I've created a "CB Radios Hangout" group on Facebook. I've been a member of a few CB radio pages geared toward buying/selling/trading and a few other things, but I thought it might be nice to have a group to just post photos, say howdy, etc. You can check the group out at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1430122073918254/1430130997250695

38 lower side band. You need a radio with single side band mode to get these channels. Like the uniden 980. 38LSB is one of the more common channels on the cb band for dx'ing on SSB. The frequency is 27.385, lower side of the frequency. Hope this helps. God bless

Your station sounds really good on SSB. The SSB relay in my linear was wanting to act up and trying to kick out on me in between words so I turned my box off and back on again, it might be a little dirty cause' that fixed it. Anyway, thanks for coming back to me again 222, :-)

222 you pretty much dominated my radio all afternoon on 38 LSB. I think almost every time you keyed down I could hear you and one other guy in Palm Beach very clearly.
Made a few more contacts, including a few very clear stations when conditions started to fade out. Sending a wave out to these guys I spoke to today.

Afred56, keep trying!! More contacts will follow. I always sit and listen for a while and the strongest station in my receive is who I call. Usually works well that way. If you don't already have one, may I suggest a log book as well. Nothing better than logging all the contacts you make. Some days I can't keep up lol. Some days it's slow. Patience is a big helper though, like is said, wait for the loudest stations and call to them. JMO. Glad you are enjoying yourself. God bless.

TN-99 here to report that in my neck of the woods I have heard DX on 27.385 kHz LSB from Solomon's Island, Okinawa. From my QTH in TN I could hear Calf.,Washington State respond back. These two locations I have never heard before. The weather had major storm over mid US so the bounce was in place with these conditions. Not long after Jamaica came in talking to NY. Todays report is TX talking back to TN as well AR station calling CQ. On the two long RX I hope there is some one who heard this call. The operator had trouble with his english but it was plain. And yes, I have tried to fake others out on calls but only stations in my own town who I knew. Those operators are silent keys now but their memory live's on.

Yeah it gets crowded sometimes. Past day or so I've gotten lots of really strong stations. Problem is they all key together so it gets hard to pick one out.

I heard a few more people come in and call back to me, but Chesapeake Bay dominated my receive for a lot of the evening and they covered everybody up. One or two I even responded to, but then the channel turned into a giant clusterf***, so I couldn't hear them.

It always makes you feel good to get good reports from distant stations.
Have had several people tell me I sounded excellent. Had one guy tell me "Don't change a thing" and "You're walkin' the dog". Makes you feel good when I get reports like that because it makes me feel like all the time I spent buying the radio, trading for the linear, soldering my own coax connectors, rigging up the pole and properly grounding and setting up my antenna, it makes me feel like it was all worth it to be able to talk to somebody hundreds or thousands of miles away and have them tell me that what I did is working good.
Have had a good day so far, been on the radio about 30 minutes or so, most of the skip seems to be coming from Florida. Heard one guy from Barbados, but he was distant and seemed a bit muffled and I couldn't get back to him.

6. Jun. 2014 159 38 LSB (27.385 Mhz) Single Side Band Florida Panhandle Using a Uniden Bearcat 980 with a 36” Lil' Wil' magnet mount antenna
I thought it was awesome that 159 in Florida was able to shoot skip back to me with a 36" Lil' Wil' antenna. That's pretty awesome. He was good and loud too. He would fade in and out a little, but I attribute that to it being a mobile, so he could have been moving around and had nearby obstructions, but overall he was good and loud with clear audio.

Yeah, seems like you guys have been getting hit harder than me. All I've really heard for the past week is Florida, but from listening to you guys it sounds like the people in Florida are hearing everybody and their cousin.

Good deal, glad you are having some dx'ing fun, I love it myself!! Nice to make contacts with some very nice people I must say!!! Will talk soon. I am in the Miami, FL area this week for work. I'll see what conditions are like tomorrow as today was spent traveling and using am 19 for monitoring. God bless and happy dx'ing!!! 73's my friend.

Although new to DXJunkies, I've listened to LSB/38 for 3-4 months. Dx-ing has been sparce and seldom strong.

It's the end of the cycle. And lots of guys are either selling their equipment or just not turning on the radio. The one good thing I suppose is that the floor noise has been almost non existent here. Been able to speak with lots of long distance locals and to places locally that we don't normally hear due to the DX. Not saying I don't miss the DX. Maybe time to upgrade and get my license. It opens up a lot of other bands that still have a lot of action. But it's hard leaving my roots!! I've made some very good friends on SSB while traveling across the eastern US. At any rate, get it while you can as it will just get worse from here!!

Totally agree Doughboy!! Nothing wrong with being a CB'er and a HAM at all. It opens up a lot of frequencies if you get the General ticket, not to mention the Extra Class ticket. I am working on mine. It's been a slow painful process due to time, and not so much not knowing the info needed to pass. One day. Tallman has been a huge help to me as far as some things go and I will say thanks to him for all he has done!! Now I just need to get my arse in gear and get the license!!! It's hard when you are working full time and also a caretaker at home as well for a father with Alzheimer's!! But I'll manage and one day hopefully soon I'll be able to use my Icom 746 to its full potential, instead of just on 11m SSB! And yes I have CB radios as well for those that will say it's illegal. I know this and have that covered already. Anyways, for the 11m DX'ers, better get it while you can, because soon it will be completely gone!! It's already sporadic, so I can only imagine what it will be like when it is gone. Hopefully some of you have locals to speak with. Anyways, to all,
73 and God Bless
222 Daytona Beach, FL.
Sean.
