I have several amplifiers and I am tired of the small stuff so I want a BIG one!!! I have 2 RM Italy 503's and a 203P but they are just too small. I have a DX-750 that uses RCA 8950 tubes that is good but I'm thinking of upgrading the tubs to push it a little harder for better output. Here is my decision I need to make....

1. Do I suck it up and buy a bigger unit?
2. Where can I find a bigger unit? or.....
3. do I upgrade the tubes to push my 750 harder?
4. what tubs can I use?

I look forward to your thoughts

Mike

doubling power results in a trivial difference in talking range . you will need to multiply your power several times to have something close to a consistent detectable talking distance . if you're running a few to several hundred watts now your money would be much more effectively spent adding a decent rotor and set of beams to your base IMO .

the amps you listed are swamp material.

Since your talking about "Tubes", I'm with Booty, invest in a beam...a 4 element beam would be cheaper than a 4 pill, and be more bang for the buck...You can get a New MaCo M104C 4 element beam for around $250...(or less)

If it were me, that's the route I would go...But that's just me, I hate being called a mudduck...:300 (96):
