upgrading my shack from the 300w mobile amp i'm running now with at least a 1kw. Will graduate the small amp to my truck and am looking for a base amp that can be handled by my 1.5kw tuner, 2k antenna,.....any suggestions besides x-force, which seems to be down? looking for maybe 1k-1.2k,... want to keep things long lasting and still get out, as i run my equipment easy using the 75% rule. Only driving to get 75% of the amp's potential.

Palomar 300A 2x4 tube amp will get you close to 1K peak.

'preciate the comeback, Jesse. Was wondering if i go with a Texas Star 1600, which has a max. input of 100w, and my Galaxy DX959 only swings to about 20w, should i use a small amp like my RM Italy set to about 80w in between?

You can...I use to run a 2x8 in my Suburban before I moved up to a 16 pill, and I think it did around 1600-1800 peak on stock volts...Can't remember now what the amp draw was tho, but you'll probably need at least one extra battery or a couple alternators to make a 8 pill happy

Right now i run everything out of my base with a 12v Astron RS-50M power supply.

you'll need a lot bigger power supply than 50 amps for a dx1600 . $$$

I like the 300a. I have worked on a ton of these and I would make sure you have the 6kd6 tubes in there.

You need 250 at a minimum but I build 350 amp power supplies for 16 pill.
