There doesn't seem to be a microphone section here so I'll just post here.
Having a good time with my Mckinley and kl 203 + sirio antenna. I stumbled onto this on youtube and figured I'd give it a try. It is a power assisted microphone, a K-PO NM-532. Apparently it has been very popular in Europe for 15 years or so but is not imported to the Usa. My Mckinley is factory stock and I have had no real complaints but I think it could sound a little more aggressive/clearer voice wise.
Here is a European Mckinley video. They are a 6 pin plug but will convert them to 4 pin free.

8:20 stock 12:30 K-Po at low medium and full power.

Scotts Radio sells them. They are a 6 pin plug but will convert them to 4 pin.

I have never owned an upgraded or power microphone so I ordered one to try.

That's a good looking mic. I just saw it on the "bay". I had to close the page because I started drooling over all the mic's there haha. I saw they would attach the proper plug for your radio. That's the was they all used to be. The pre-amp will add a bit of a punch for sure. hope it works out.

Thanks for the reply GrapeApe [cool name by the way!!] I hope it works out well. Scotts Radio says it works well with a President Mckinley so we will see how it goes. Pretty excited as I have never had a power microphone before.

These are pretty good mics, wired one for a client. I believe they are electret/condenser type insert. This is great for a relatively flat, natural response, but they're typically not a standout type audio that you get with ceramic inserts etc.
The directional pattern can also be taken advantage of with some of these mics, if you have background noise, like in the mobile.
