Hello all. Been out of CB radio for about 20 years or so. Joined mostly to get a feel for what the "state" of CB is these days. And maybe ask a technical question or two. Gave away my last mobile CB in the early 2000s, when mobile CB stated to drop off and I thought the "next big thing" for mobile-to-mobile or mobile-to-base comms was going to be FRS/GMRS. Well, that never happened.

FIRST Mobile Rig: Johnson Messenger 123A, circa late 1970s, just before 40 channel became a thing.

LAST Mobile Rig: Motorola "MoCat" 4020 40 channel, circa late 1990s.

CURRENT: Uniden PRO401HH CB Handheld, Midland "BaseCamp" XT511 FRS/GMRS "Portable".

when they say 2 pill 4 pill etc, what does "pill " mean ?

The "pills" refer to the power transistors in an amplifier. They resemble a large aspirin tablet. Hence, pills.
