When I get a new microphone at some point in time a video is done to sample the audio. These gates enable me to form an opinion, make the required adjustments for better modulation and a good way to check the performance of the mobile. During these videos I explain, give the info and throw a little entertainment your way. Here is my growing collection of microphone testing videos, enjoy Bulldog.

Here is the ProComm PSM4NC noise canceling microphone. Diesel and Barjan have simular models. I put the microphone through its paces. Then I switch over to an Astatic Road Devil noise canceling microphone. Using a Galaxy DX 959 with a Predator 30-K Plus.

Once again I am doing more testing of microphones on this "one of a kind" Galaxy DX 959 with power compared to a 1 pill! Microphones in this video used are the Astatic D104-M6B, Galaxy Stock, Astatic 636L-SE, Ranger SRA-158 and Skythumper ST-65DX. Real world test! Tell me what you think, thanks...Bulldog.

This is a reference video for me to know these three Astatic microphones on this radio. I am using the 636L-Flag Edition, Road Devil and D104-M6B. Today was the first day the Road Devil was offically tested against the other microphones. Actually the Road Devil internal electronics were custom transplanted into the microphone case belonging to a 636L SE "Silver Edition"! So I have unoffically called this model STD104E, Silver Tongue Devil Edition! In this video I am using the one of a kind microphone with other one of a kind equipments! The Galaxy DX 959 has a rf section equal to a Stryker 490! My antenna is custom with a 36" aluminum shaft, 76" stainless steel whip and corona ball called the Predator Freedom! Thanks for watching...Bulldog

I am checking out the difference between the Astatic 636L-SE and D104-M6B out in the distance. Was located about 5 miles from the home base. Garfield is located about 15 miles from where I was parked! The D104-M6B was the winner in the distance. Average RMS/Peak power better. Note: When switching from a noise cancelling microphone to amplified one, adjust your voice and distance from mouth. I did not, and does sounds better once realizing that...Bulldog!

This is a "one of a kind" Galaxy DX 959 power compared to a 1 pill. With a killer swing the Astatic 636L Silver Edition turned out to be the overall best sounding microphone for this rig with the mods that have been done to it. After reviewing the video realized by increasing the dead key a slight amount eliminated the noise associated with too low of a dead key. Now I still have a monster swing, clear, fairly loud and pleasant with very little background noise. I hope this helps you in reaching your goals...Bulldog!

On August 29, 2009 I did a microphone test between a Xtreme 2018 Digital Echo Power Microphone & Astatic 636 L Noise Cancelling Microphone. Both microphones were purchased from Sparky's CB Shack. These are two types of microphones. You be the judge.

I have purchased a Sony ICD-PX820 Digital Voice Recorder from Walmart for $59.95 with has many features. This IC recorder is being used to record the audio straight from this RF Limited Xtreme 2018. Audio samples are upload into the computer via USB link. Imagine incorporating a digital voice recorder with a microphone tester! Wow, saving audio samples from tested microphones can be of use in many ways. Wiring jumpers and jacks so the recorder can record directly from the radio or play sound samples like a sound module. Plus record your voice and play it as a "shout out" when DX is in. When somebody responds then talk. The Sony ICD-PX820 IC Recorder has a 2GB of memory, various quality settings, jack for headphone (can use amplified speakers or jumper to the computer for playback audio), jack for microphone (has a built-in microphone also), add a jumper audio cable to the microphone jack and record directly and much more. It takes two AAA batteries. Comes with Digital Voice Editor 3 program but has a few bugs to work out. The audio files on this unit are MP3 format!

Here is an on air microphone test with a Wilson Trucker, Astatic 636L-Flag and SkyThumper ST-65DX noise canceling microphones. The Cobra 2000 GTL with IMAX-2000 antenna as the receiving gate station. Custom Galaxy DX 959 "1 Pill" with Predator Freedom DX-K antenna mobile transmitting station. In the process I talked to Unit 721 "Jimbo" in VA on channel 28, 6/10/2011 in the morning. All microphones came from Sparkys CB Shack.

that is awesome BD.i enjoy the reviews of all of the producst as "reads" but i also gain a lot of info from your posts and reviews and explanations of certain aspects of your posts.you have definitely added a great aspect to this site that should help in attracting people that sign up,to stick around and read posts and potentially get involved.

as i've probably said before, i belong to one or two other sites and haven't really seen anyone putting in the time and effort that you put in,in the name of and for the-CBJ site.and as a member,i appreciate what you've put out here on the boards for us.thank you and don't ever stop(HOW DoeO YOU get all of these items-are you affiliated in some way with these manufacturers or CB shops?or do you plunk your own money down for these products).either way, thanks brotha and 73's Gravy626 wavin' atcha from down the street in New HampshaH.

hopefully we'll cross airwave paths out on the DX once my base is set up.... i am just about to hop in the shower to meet a women in Epsom NH to check out the 2000GTL (one speaker and a mic) she is selling.she inherited it and knows nothing about it.i'm bringing my small 200watt inverter in hopes it will power it up at least.if not, then i'll pull out the 1500watts(running) and tie it into some 6gauge i have led into the cab of my Jeep.if i works, ill make her an offer.

she wants $125 and i'll see if she'll take $100 cause if it does work, ill definitely have to send it in to get tuned and re-aligned because it does look dusty and as if it's been sitting.i'll keep you updated on whether or not i buy it and if it works and ill also post pic's once it's all cleaned and sitting on the desK!!!

My motto has always been "Knowledge Is Power". I run no external amplifiers, period. On the forums the guys claimed and convinced I had a big heater behind my station. If you have the right equipment, installed the right way and good DX conditions you will get out. Anyway, to settle the rumor of an amp being used at my station I did this video, lol!
