Almost an entire foot shorter than a coily punisher and wayyy lighter and tunes great! I borrowed dan's design with the cap-hat because its simple, easy to build and works well, but i will design my own one of these day. Will be given the "tri-state-area abuse test" this coming week and will let everyone know the results.

So far i have about 4 hrs of mobile talk time on the "Noizy Shortie" Heres some info..tuneing with the mfj was 1.2 swr r-53 x-12. on a mag mount! I messed with a few stinger lenths to get these readings. This antenna is like all of the noizy builts..tough/stout design.
I have talked with 2w power 35 miles..from my place to Blairstown NJ. And have been talking from 2-20w local..being told.. my sound is "In your face" loud.
Yesterday did some ssb work in the mobile..on stock power 12-15w talking to RI. Didnt last long though conditions have been crap!
Only have 2 dx contacts ..mr 44 in tx..conditions are terrible lately... but this antenna is working very well.Recive is great..without any strange noise or "up/down" meter movement...possibly the fact the stinger is stout and stays pretty straight even at 70 75 mph..
This is a great "city' antenna shorter then a wilson ..gets under all those bridges in NYC for me. Couple that with its performance.. this is a winner
Not sure if this is Noizys final design on this one... but it works, awsome

Thanks

Nice! Good to hear! I think i might change the coil a smidge and have to come up with my own style cap hat, but that report sounds great! I def will upgrade coil to 1/4 from the 3/16 thts on that one.

Shortie #1 seems to have proven itself worthy.

FYI.. Last night skip rolled in on 28 .. it was "GAME ON " with the Shortie#1-- Made numerous contacts to Ga. TN and AL. on the shortie... Cond were rough but i punched thru with the "NOIZY SHORTIE".
One thing .. this antenna doesnt hit many things which is great.. but because its not hitting things i forget its up there!!!.. Which has inflicted some SERIOUS abuse to this antenna..ive knocked my quad mag over by hitting a low garage once... still no danmage.
