Ok, so I guess when I stepped up to the Connex CX3400HP that I got a somewhat decent radio for a beginner...
I have been told that antenna selection and possibly PLACEMENT is important...again..NOOB so I'm just going on what some guys at work have mentioned....who KNOWS what their knowledge base is...that's where YOU GUYS come in!
Anyway..right now I have a 3 ft standard Firestick II mounted behind the drivers side car on a crew cab pickup. It is mounted in the front stake bed pocket on the bed with just a lug...no spring.
While I have some overtime at work I thought about getting a decent antenna....(maybe a Predator ) or possible something else y'all might recommend...is the location where I have it at now ok?
Is the Predator the way to go in a pickup...what lenght shaft should I be looking at?
Again...thanks for being patient with a new guy...

the predator is a great choice , it's a very well made antenna for a very decent price . here's a review by the cbradiomagazine dude .

a (http://www.cbradiomagazine.com/) 27 inch shaft one in your current location will work . you will get a more omni directional tx and rx pattern with it in the middle of the bed rail behind the cab and the long lower shaft will get the coil well above the roof . a 12 or 17 inch shaft in the middle of the roof may do better sometimes and that's the preferred antenna location for most folks . they have a life time warranty too . there are even threads about kale replacing them or their parts including free shipping .

use a good strong mount with any of the external coil antennas .

I know it was posted a tiny bit back, however a debt of gratitude is in order for the post about National Comm. magazine. Looking outfits finish with looped rope speaker mic's driving $150.00 sold cop autos with $900.00 yellow drove light bars and a wide range of silly poop so good fortunes with that.
