Hello All

So i have a set of 1/4 waves spaced 74 1/2 inches apart ..and i cant get any better then a 1.4 swr.. i tried all combo's ..1.4 is the magic number.
Strange thing is i tune the driven stick to 1.4 then install my reflect stick... it doesnt change anything. no matter how high or low it is.
Observation... i have a shorty antenna from Noisemaker.. with the reflect stick .. its 1.1 R55 x-0.. and works very well..
So with a tall 1/4 wave driven stick i cant get it to tune. What are the characteristics of too short spacing?. Do i need to go wider spacing with the taller driven stick?

Thanks In Advance

Im going to add to this. The same 2 sticks on my suburban tune perfect spaced at 86". Im going to put my $$ on spacing and/ or the mount. I think u need more roof dude

Do it!! Lol. Heres a dumb thought. What if u isolate the hitch and tap the ground right at the base. I can make u an insulator 5" x 1.25" thick. Would have to lower the arm a few inches but is worth a try

Meaning tap the ground right to the 3/8 24 stud?.. if so thats how i have it. i see what you mean the insolator to get the antenna seperated from the mount...correct?

right- but its also grounded through the hitch - theres no isolation. Screw the insulator into the mount and then tap your braid between the insulator and the stick that way the arm isnt adding length to the stick (cause technically it is right now.)

just thought of this too - the mag mount may also be the culprit - you have a capacitive ground and a physical ground going on - even though the rear is grounded to the mag mount - the mags are making a different ground and that may be bugging it out.

342here you go- i already have a couple made. bottom screws into mount/plate, stick goes on top, ground get bonded at top screw (bottom leave alone- no connection)

True..would that be affecting the shorti setup?...thats working the way it should..i did some 30 mi test with the shorti today... i did key with the sticks on... "Jamaica " on 28 1st key up..
Now that you say it the mount is adding to the reflector lenth technically..i might be able to make something temp to test that theory tomorrow.

More i think about noizy's sugg i think you may be right. When i had the mfj on it ..it was incredibly wide banded like the antenna was tall. Even at its lowest setting... possibly using the back door mount as part of the antenna lenth.
Can i buy one of those insolators off ya noizy?

Its not that he doesnt know how to do it - hes more than capable. Its the vehicle he's trying to put them on and the big ass sunroof thats taking up valuable sheet metal on a roof thats not long enough to begin with.

So he's trying to get antennas to work on something that is obviously not a good platform for a CB antenna system? sounds smart to me......

what up noizy....... Hit me up on friday I'll be down there both days

Honda CRV.. kind of figured how to run them..but wacky,, includes adapting large pc of sheet metal attaching to the back door antenna..basically extending the roof.
