I have been thinging of using a mobile (possibly Coil antenna) as a base station antenna, do to height restrictions where I live. Is there anything special that I need to do, since it will not have a vehicle to use as a ground?

BTW , for not much more than the cost of the antennas mentioned you can get a 5/8 base antenna that will do significantly better .

I need to point out that I have a height restriction, so I cannot put up anything over 9' maybe 10' and that will be pushing it but I think I can get away with it.

Use a dipole, they're inexpensive, easy to hide, and will easily out perform any mobile antenna.
