Just got back into radio a few days ago.Buddy of mine sent me a Galaxy 88,picked up a cheap wilson lil wil to get me on the air.Works but definately going to upgrade.Galaxy worked solid when I got it,now the ssb side of has a malfunction, seems it wants to throw a carrier on SSB now.Oh well,it was free,I cant bitch,am seems to still be working so i'm not dead in the water.Soon as I find a reputable tech close by i'll go get the radio straightened out.
I'm glad to be back in the CB community, had a pretty nice setup about 22 years ago.Galaxy Saturn base running into a Varmint XL600 with a lightning rod A99 about 36 feet up,swinged to 1k and GOT DOWN!
Anyway,I'll be building up my mobile first then working on getting another monster base on the air. Thanks for having me Junkies!

Welcome!! I am also new, you will find this site very uselful. The Wilson little will is a very good start. Thats what i started with. If you upgrade I would go with a wilson 5000. I just bought one to replace/upgrade the little will. Worth every penny (100 bucks on ebay). With the little will I could talk about 6 miles, the wilson 5000 I was talking to a guy 18 miles away!! But I guess it depends on radio also.

BTW,I got the radio straightened out.Seems it wasnt the radio at all.It was the generic ass roadpro Pilot truckstop special swr meter I bought.Unhooked the meter and things work like they should now.
