I watched a video on YouTube of a guy making his own radio out of a 102 inch whip and copper wire as a ground plane and copper tubing to ground it all. Does anyone think this is a good idea for someone who lives in a flat area with no trees around the house?

I did the same set up as Cryptic cricket and I can tell you it works perfectly. I'm easily getting ten miles from my home and it works quite will with skip. It's also a cheap way to set up a base radio.

I built me a dipole not to long ago with 2 four foot fiberglass antennas on a 10 foot pole that talked around 10 miles but didn't work well for skip
