Fogdog - thanks for the info. I got the S-400 and in the mail is my ic-718 a-comin. I may/may not take a ham test. However in the meantime, I'll modify the 718 for full TX. No ham band tx, just freeband. Thanks for the help, 73s. -DonB

Hahaha. Well I'm not an electrician either. I was a Machinery Technician, but that's ok. I'm using a power supply made by Megawatts. Look them up
I got the S-400 for like $60.00. Its a pretty nice unit. I use it to power up the Stryker 955, and my yaesu ft 2900 at the same time. Plenty of power. It also has a cooling fan, and if you ever need more power you can add another PS in line. Hope that helps you out brother. Sorry I didn't respond quicker, but I'm not to active on this forum anymore. Ill try to check my inbox more often . lots of good folks on here, and,I've made a few good friends here.

Thanks. I'll be using it as a base rather than mobile. Having difficulty finding out the amp rating needed for the power supply. It would be a 13.8VDC with a ???? Amp rating... Thought as an electrician(?) you might know. Us Submarine Yeoman are illiterate when it comes to electricity. Thanks 73s

Hey FogDog my new channels are 17, 24, and 35 local. I monitor 19 while driving for the most part. When skip is rolling its usually 11, 20, 26, and 28. On LSB I try talking on 36 and 38. Listen for Caveman or 195 southern indiana. I'll holler for ya when skip is rolling. Later man.

996, good to here from ya. I'm still waiting for some good skip myself. I've had a few contacts lately, but there all from out here. Still got my ears on listening for ya'll. I put the 10k back on the pick-up, and it's working ok. It hears pretty good. I talked to a guy yesterday about 7 miles from here and he said I was putting a solid 10 on him. Thats partly due to the amp I'm running I'm sure.
