    antenna tuning

I'm lending my buddy m,y 4 1/2 foot Francis antenna but ive never tuned it before because I don't know how. They are solid fiberglass and continuously loading antenna so the coil throughout the whole antenna. Any ideas?

Is it like a firestik, where you take the endcap off, peel back some wire, and clip it off?

No it is solid fiberglass. The whole thing is fiberglass with the coil inside.

That sure is odd... I'd hook it up and see what the SWR is right off the bat... Then go from there. If he's jusy running it temporarily, with stock power, you could just leave it as is if it's under 2:1

Its the Francis hot rod. They claim to be factory tuned so you don't have to tune it but like all antennas they have to be tuned to the radio.
