    Hello From Eastern, KY

So I guess I'm the FNG. I live in a little town in eastern Kentucky. I'm 26 years old and like to talk to a lot of the local guys here in the evening. We just hop on there and chat about whatever comes up every night. Here's my radio setups.

    Home Base
Cobra 148 GTL (Barefooted, 8 watts AM, 12 SSB)
    12 amp Pyramid power supply
Antron A-99 antenna, erected about 40 feet in the air

Mobiles (Got one in each vehicle)
Cobra 148 GTL (Barefooted, 8 watts AM, 12 SSB)
    Lil' Wil' 36" whip antennas

If you're in the area I go by the handle of Retro. Depending on exactly who I'm talking to, I can reach out about 20 miles or so, but it really depends on which direction I'm talking in. There's lots of hills here that even with my antenna, limit how well you get out. The best local setups have antennas on top of ridge-lines, but it takes 1,000+ feet of coax that I don't have, so I just have mine on a tower in the back yard right now.

I'm in Louisville, what town are you near? I get to go to Knoxville and Atlanta every once in a while.

I live in Salyersville, it's where the mountain parkway ends. I've been able to talk to people in Menifee County, but I think that's about my limit because they sounded distant and I'm barefooted.

I know you would be able to hear me but I don't think you could get back.
