If the amp works on am, then there is sonething wrong with the ssb delay or the way the bias is set up. Have you tried messing with the delay for ssb at all? I am at a loss myself as it seems like it should work on ssb. Have you talked to tallman about the issue? He may know the answer to the issue. Hope you get it resolved. Wish i could help more but i am not an expert when it comes to trouble shooting radios and amps. I have learned a lot by experience and from the forums. Anyway good luck and god bless.

Still chatters on ssb and 025 said I sounded really bad , could hardly understand me.... on am I can get it to work but delay still is a problem takes a moment to disengage after you stop transmission...
So what's your best guess ? No ssb bias ? Bias or something not working..... 351 quack quack...

Got to be something to do with that relay or the amp has bias issues. I know it's not what you would like to hear. Either that or try redoing the ground on the rear and get rid of the current terminal lug on the wire and put a new one on. Next as you are speaking with you friend, move the slider where it says ssb and keep slowing moving it and see if you still sound bad. It is normal for the relay to stay on for a sec after you un key. If it's working on am, there is some thing else going on. Make sure that the contacts are all clean on the ssb delay and that the relay is clean and doesn't look bad. Keep working with it. In the end, it may need to be sent off with the radio so that they can be matched. I know more bs. Just about like every other hobby I have dabbled in, rc cars it was parts!! Order parts and wait lol. Anyway keep trying and have you spoken with tallman about the amp as well??

Have asked if it was tested on ssb but he is probably busy for now, when he see's the pm I will know.. the lug on rear was just replaced buy Tallman so I can't see that being a problem.. I did move the ssb delay when I had 025 helping me test it but it still chattered found a spot were there is no chatter till you talk then it happens a bit lighter chatter but still there ... What it comes down to is a second hand mistake, seller says he has made ssb contacts with it.. mmmm
Just another bad run the mfj gauge is just not right so all round big step backwards .. I do appreciate you throwing some ideas about ! That's how sometimes you can find the issues.. cheers 222

Would it do that if radio is under powering it ? 025 did not say overdriving and he knows what that sounds like..

No it's not over driven there is something amiss with the ssb delay IMO. That or it is not an ssb amp. Wait for tallmans response and let me know, what's the issue with the meter??

FYI, there is more to making an amp sound good on SSB,more than putting in a relay switch. Internal works needs to be done to the Biasing. Alot of amp builder just put the switch and call it ready for SSB, doesn't work that way.
