    I also have the base bug. I think it's only because I'm totally off air at the moment. I'm sure the bug will pass.

    Its an AM/SSB radio. I can do at the most around 15 miles AM and maybe a little more on SSB.

    How come on ssb its not getting any DX ? Is that just the antenna height ? Cheers mate.. 351...

    my dipole is only about 8 foot to the tip so its not an ideal DX setup.

    Okay, makes sense, if possible, get it up to 20-30ft and you can talk locally and dx with it, I was able to anyway. Find 2 trees, I used a tree and a couple of 1" conduits. Cost wasn't much as I had some of the components. But a dipole can really work if setup right.

    i will probably get a push up pole to put it on. my dipole is not a wire dipole. it is made from 2 fiberglass antennas. one is vertical and that is my transmit antenna. the other is horizontal and is grounded to the mount as a ground plane. im adding a 2nd ground plane radial. it works better than it did after i actually got it up in the air little more.
