Is that the AM/SSB version, or just AM?

I have one just like it, that is the SSB version...Nice radios...Little on the heavy-side tho if you go to mounting it in a mobile...Do you have both the AC and DC power cords? Those are what is hard to come-by if you don't have them...almost impossible to fine anymore.

What i did to get around always having to have a Mic wired for 5 pin, just for that radio, is I had a local CB Shop make me a pig-tail adapter so I could use any 4-pin (cobra-galaxy) Mic with it...Since the Mic jack is on the side of the radio, a pig-tail adapter works allot better than just using one of those 4/5 pin screw-on adapters...

The New Uniden 680,880, and 980's all come from the factory with pig-tail adapters so you can run 4-pin Mic's.

Yeah its the AM/SSB version. I'm having a Turner +3 wired for it soon and I'm going to have thr radio cranked up a bit. I plan on just using it for a base setup.

I have three of those. Do you have all of the power cords for it? The AC and DC cords are hard to find unless you know where to look.

i mounted it outside with the bottom antenna (grounplane) horizontal. for now its mounted to a shepherds hook outside the garage window. i managed to gain 2 S units by doing so. im planning on changing my top antenna to a 102" whip for better signal and putting the firestik on as a 2nd part of the ground plane.

Nice, I'm glad you finally got a base unit. What other radios did you get to pick from? Did you post any picture of your antenna caveman??

I got to choose from a 40 channel realistic navaho trc -432, a 23 channel cobra cam 89, a old Royce base that was a little rough, a 40 channel cobra 93 ltd, and a big 23 channel teaberry base. But I chose the sears because it had all the features I needed. Only complaint is it does not take 4 pin mics
