    I am intersted in scanners.

Well, I am also developing a interest in scanners. Having never had a scanner I know nothing of them. It would seem that from some casual reading that I would need a digital trunking scanner which is super spendy. Any advice ?

I am thinking of dropping serious cash on one of 3 scanners.

    Uniden Bearcat BCD536HP Police Scanner

    Uniden Bearcat BCT15X Police Scanner

    Uniden Bearcat BCD996XT Scanner

All three these units are serious cash for a poor guy like me so I want to be sure to buy the right one. once again any advice would be welcomed.

Iam in MN about half the ems/fire and police here still use analog but they are building towers and switching over to digital. I like the 536HP it is just a lot of cash.

Its for the older models but it looks like it could be a lot of fun.

You might want to look for a GRE PSR-600. It basically has most of the features if the Uniden for less money & can receive digital & analog. (If you want a handheld version, it would be a PSR-800)

What part of MN are you in? The state wide emergency band is digital so if you're outstate there are more analog signals you can get but you still can't get the state wide emergency band. If you're in the TC (like me) you'll need a digital scanner. I'd recommend the 436 over the 536 as there have been a few issues with the 536 - there are several threads about this on radio reference.
