    My base station

Here is my base station, its on top of a hill out in the bush overlooking the sea so there is heeps of skip and no interference from electrical things, I have an old bus seat I sit in.

Early Cobra 2000 GTL, converted to 240 volt and 26 mhz, this has more punch that every other radio I have ever owned.

Home made 5/8 wave Station master, its tide up with rope as it gets super windy here, you can see a slight bend in the radiator this has been fixed but happened in a storm before i added the ropes, I plan to build a 3 element Yagi beam next, I have a Dipole it just needs a reflector and a detector added.

1978 American Electronics radio, clarafire unlocked for 10kc shift, 26 and 27 mhz my favorite radio. I need to get a power supply as I only have a car battery to power this.

I will crank up the AE soon, are you around the radio during the week?

1975 JIL base station, 11 channel, this is from the days when you couldn't have more than 1 watt, this cranks out 6 watts, I use this everyday its hooked up to a 1/2 wave dipole.

a simple dipole 1:1 SWR on my favorite channel, its made from a fuse form the HT power lines with the radiators held in with bolts.

Are they easy to work on ? Older gear is better to play with more room like spread out, wiring diagram's are more straight forward .. what computer type fan has NO noise ? Any ideas ?... cheers

It is easier to work on than the new radios, and I could get the factory service sheets off the net, I think all fans will make a bit of noise, its better than your radio cooking tho

Nice looking setup you have there. A bus seat no doubt makes a good radio bench. Better than a stool for sure! Good luck working on it.
