    Guess this antenna

guy down the road is selling a 5/8 omni.$50.00 It looks to be about 20feet tall with 4-5 foot radials. On the top are three square diamond shaped wire. He doesn't know anything about it except he says it is 35 years old. Does anyone know who might have made such an antenna. I would like to try and find some specs on it Thanks

From the description you gave- it may be an Antenna Specialists Mighty Mag. It had a diamond shaped capacity hat and sealed loading coil at the base with 4 ground plane radials. It was available in the early to mid 1970's along with the Super Mag which had the "droopy" ground plane radials and a small circular shaped cap hat. Both antennas performed well with modest power handling capability. I think the Mighty Mag was a 1/2 wave design. Hope this helps.

That's what I was thinking. The mighty mag was a good skip antenna with a high takeoff angle. It has a loaded coil at the base so any more than 100W and its toast.
