    Palomar Magnum mystery amp

I recently picked up one of these and would like to know more about it. Somebody said it was a 6500R but I can't find any info on it.
Can anyone shed any light on it? Would sure love to know exactly what it is before I hook it up and try it.

Got this pic off the net but this is the same amp I just got.

Probably a 2 pill, or Mosfet box...Best thing to do, is open it up and see what transistors are in it... OR, hook it up, and set your radios DK to 2w's and see what it will do... don't think I have ever ran across a Amp that a 2w DK from a CB Radio would hurt.

Yeah I just popped it open and its a 2 pill. I can't see any numbers on the pills due to the stiff braid over them. I see the Motorola logo though.
You are right about the 2w dk and that's a good idea. I should just give it a go. I wanted to put it behind my president washington but I don't have a tx gain on that radio.
    Looks suspiciously like this one

You will probably be OK if the Washington is only keying 3w's...even 4w's and swinging about 10w's you will probably be OK...Just watch it and not get long winded on Key time so it don't get too hot. They get warm anyway with no fan which is also OK, you just don't want it to get so hot you could fry eggs on top of it.

Thanks Man. I appreciate the advice. I just got a new watt meter and am waiting for my new super penetrator which will be here this coming Wednesday. I've been out of the hobby for a while but always loved it. I'm having fun pulling all my old rigs out of boxes. Tons of radios and power mics and stuff. Life is good!
