    dx88hl

I own a DX88HL . I just got it back from my CB shop. It was all chopped up and a total hack job done by the "fly-by nite pros. He said he fixed it up "better than new". He went thru everything, fixed known poblems. I asked about the power, was told 10 watts DK and 25 Swing. I asked for the most power, peeked and tuned. I was hoping for double the power. My cb tech has been in business for 20+ years and told me this set up is all I need. What can any other tech do to my radio (without a hack job) to "beef up my radio? I want a loud and proud talker. WITHOUT BEING AN OVER MODULATED ANNOYING RADIO. Any help would be appreciated.

Work on your antenna setup and you will be happier, I run a dx66v that makes less power than your 88 and when skips rolls in you would be surprised how far even 4 watts gets you. (could be California to Florida)

Sounds like a clean setup. Maybe a look at the grounds could allow for more skip.
