    Texas Star 667

Hi, I'm new to the thread. I have a TS 667 I bowed up years ago as my unregulated power supply failed and shot 24volts to it, so I dug it out the closet ant dropped in new 1-2290 driving 4-2879 HG pills. I can only get 300 watts out of it now and found it has a bad variable now I believe due to Power supply isue , the only different is the pills, am I missing something? I was wondering if I could bypass the variable and use the variable on a radio?

You need to most likely re Tune the input/output of the amp as well as some of the other components for those new transistors as they aren't the exact same as what came out of the amp. Someone that builds amps and repairs them will know more, but that is most likely what needs to be done. You can not just drop those HG transistors in and go. They don't work like that. I do know that much.

It doesn't hurt to have the tech pick out a matched set of pills too.
