    New to CB hobby

Howdy! I'm new to CB radios and have some questions regarding squelch and RF gain. Can someone explain what each does?

SQUELCH: In telecommunications, squelch is a circuit function that acts to suppress the audio (or video) output of a receiver in the absence of a sufficiently strong desired input signal. ... This can be useful when trying to hear distant, or otherwise weak signals (also known as DXing).

RF GAIN: RF gain is used to counteract noise, RF gain acts as a sensitivity filter. It reduces noise in the receiver without reducing reception power as a CB radio squelch does.
Hope this helps. A quick google search yielded the answers btw. Have a good one and again, hope this helps.
