    I got a KL 203p...

I've gone back and forth over this amp for a month or so. But yesterday I pulled the trigger. I bought one. I was going to get one off eBay. Then it went out of stock. So I found one on Newegg.com. They were out. So after looking for at least an hour, I found one on a site in England. It was only $85.to my door. So instead of just listening to skip now, I'll be able to join in. My Uniden 980 should be happy with this. And I'll keep my Cobra 29 LTD Chrome off the amp for running locally.

Make sure that you lower the DK on the radio to about 1/2-1 watt as about 4-5 Watts pep on AM and 10-12 Watts pep on SSB. Otherwise that amp will have a short life.

Everybody I've talked to says 3 watts is the sweet spot with this amp and radio combo. But I can't DK that low to 1/2 - 1w because a 980 has no forward swing if it dips below 2.3w. And the SWR's go crazy. I tried to set it a 1.5w but my SWR's shot up to 2:05 and 2:30 with no amp. But thanks for the heads up. I'll do some more research with that in mind and talk to more of this type amp owners. Thanks man...

I got the amp and hooked it up. It works as it should. It gets me out there local further than I could before. I decided to hook both my 980 SSB and My Cobra 29 LTD Chrome up to it. I need to get some more cable and a couple ends to make me up another cable. Instead of using this small diameter cable. I'm still yet to test it on SSB. So I'll keep ya posted.
