    Materials & Cost to Re-Cap 148GTL?

Anyone have an idea how many capacitors it takes to go through a 148GTL (Taiwan model)

Anyone out there have a good tech I could ship this to for repairs?

Check eBay they sell kits to recap them I am pretty sure. Or you can at least get an idea of how many it will need total.

    Thanks 222,

Looked at some.....bout $20 plus shipping. Just need to check what they are inside compared to what service manual states. Can be different values than stock I read somewhere. Found a friend that can do it but tying him down as a favor will be tough. A bottle of Knob Creek might lubricate his motivation.

But he doesn't have proper equipment to align it once finished.

Gotta find a professional. Any thoughts on who?

JJD would most likely have a better answer than I would. I stopped buying cb radios and ended up with an icom 746. I venture mostly on SSB so it works perfect for me. 100w is plenty with my sirio Vector 4000. I know of a couple of people, like Bells cb shop in south FL, and Doug’s custom radios as well. I am sure there are more, but I know the 2 I mentioned do pretty good work.
