    Motormauls do they really work

What is the theory behind a motormaul ? Is it just a voltage regulator ? Will it make a difference when in a keydown ? How can you take 4 12 volt batteries charged at 13.8 volts and force them to put out up to 20 volts ? How is this possible ? Educate me please !!!!

the motor maul i think was built for folks that wanted a bigger amp but didint have the ability to actually juust add the alts
and the batteries are setup to up to 20 volts
and i might be wrong but when you key up the maul engages and what ever the voltage is set
i might be wrong also but when it skeyed up its switched over to 24 volts
you just dial you r voltage down to where you want it
and i heard here and there that its not good to try and dial a maul back down no lower than 16 volts
and last but not least after the 3rd or 4th key your voltage is dropping pretty quick and your fixing to get keyed on

do mauls work, yes, I have won keydowns with one. they allow someone to run something bigger then their alternator will allow.
how it works is it take 2 12 volt batts and switches them to a series configuration for 24 volts. then it reduces the voltage through transistors. they do work best if set at 16 volts. its easier on the transistors.

Don't plan on running a maul at the AC keydown. Evidently Charger has some stupid rule which effectively disqualifies using a maul.
