Like Doughboy and D-MAX 2212 had said, I agree 100% with using Ferrite cores, even more than one, on Mic cord to reduce RF works very well. I even do on my Base Station to reduce RF and any noises.

Actually, you can talk to the world on 4 watts.

Personally, I've used power mics in the past because I am not a loud talker. Some people scream into the mic so obviously having a power mic wouldn't be very beneficial to that person. So it just depends on who it is.

I have the RF 2018 TURBO connected to a Cobra 29 LX, and I have got good reports from everyone I ever made contact with. I keep both the volume and echo delay at 2. It sounds very clean. I thought I was buying the Extreme, that has a few more features, but very happy with this one. It's a keeper. Some people don't like the power mics cuz some use a 9 volt battery. No big deal really, I just keep a pack of 2 in the glove box. I've had the same battery in the mic since Jan 2013, and it's still going strong.

Once you figure out how you want a 2018 set, you'll never want to go back to using anything else...
Agree power mic's are a personal preference...I love my 29LX and 2018 combo, they work and sound great together...Agree 100% with JesseJames...I won't change my mic for anything else...World Wide DX on 4 watts is possible but only during peak sun spot cycles and optimal antenna systems with increased gains like a 3 element yagi or greater... Definitely not going to happen sitting in your car on the side of the road...haha...unless your this guy...
