    Galaxy 939

Just got my Galaxy back from Roadstar communications and he did a great job. Really gets out there.

Have you noticed if it has a hum when you transmit?

I had one years ago that hummed to the point it was annoying as hell...Was going to send it in for warranty work but once I talked to the people who do Galaxy's warranty work, they told me how to fix the problem...

On the 939's there's a ribbon cable that connects the face back lighting to it's power source, problem with the earlier 939's was that ribbon cable was wrapped up around the wires going to the Mic jack...To fix the problem you had to cut the plastic tie straps holding the wires together, then separate that ribbon wire and get it way from the wires going to the Mic jack...That was it! Worked perfect after I did that.

My radio lets out a cracking noise when you push the transmit button on the mic. Should I consider a noise cancelling mic?

Stock Mic's are for the most part "junk"...

The Ranger SRA 198 NC Mic are probably the best noise canceling Mic's available...very well made...You can find them listed on ebay all day long New under $30.
