    New guy! Here to learn...

    Hello all!

At 56 I’m looking to get into CB Radio. I remember as a kid in the mid-1970’s having a CB in my Dad’s ‘73 Ford station wagon. We took trips from Chicago to Florida and I remember listening to the truckers and travelers talking on it.

I haven’t done it since then, but am wanting to install one in my 2002 Tahoe. I’m on the road alot and think it would be fun.

I did a some research online and have ordered a Bearcat 980 SSB - it should arrive within the next few days. I’m thinking of going with a Wilson 1000 for my antenna but have not yet ordered it.

I look forward to learning from the members here.

    Jeff

At the moment I run the 980 with a KL203 amp and a Sirio Performer 5000 antenna. I like the Sirio because the roof of my Tundra is 6 ft and the Sirio is almost 7 feet. Pretty tall but the Sirio can be folded down for a garage or traveling. I usually have it down to get to my spot to DX and fold it up. Otherwise I could hit some tree branches.
