    Squeal on Transmit

I’m running a Uniden PRO 520XL with a Firestik FS II antenna. My radio is squealing whenever I try to transmit. Any ideas on a fix?

    Thanks,

    Will

Try a different microphone. If you have a external speaker don't have it close and pointed at the microphone.

I’m starting to think it’s my mic. I unplugged the mic and plugged it back in then did a radio check and I got a loud and clear. The next day a buddy and I were talking and my radio was all good then suddenly the squeal came back. I repeated the process with the mic and it fixed it.

Check your mic connectors for corrosion or loose wires on both ends. those wires they put on Pro520XL are pretty short so they can get stretched to their limit. I bought a Astatic Road Devil power mic to replace the stock mike on my Pro520XL because of the short mic cord. Or you can buy a extension for your stock mic, but make sure you check the wires at the connection first.
