Will My Neighbor's Metal Roof Affect My VHF Signal?

    David Casler

Bob, who is studying for his Tech, is worried that his neighbor's metal roof will affect his VHF/UHF signal from a rooftop antenna. No it won't, but there are a couple little considerations.

Will the neighbors metal roof affect your VHF signal? Yes.

Will you notice the difference it makes? No.

If the roofs are as he drew them in the video I disagree with him with what would happen. The angle of the metal roof would reflect the signal up, weakening the signal strength slightly in that direction. Mind you, as we agree that there will be little to no noticeable difference this is semantics more than anything...

Also, the further above his neighbors metal roof his antenna is mounted, the less of an effect it will have on said antenna. So, height is might as the saying goes.
