Angry Maco Model 45 CO-AX Switch

I purchased this Maco Model 45 co-ax switch from Sparkys CB Shack. Was eager to have it inline since ditching my previous XS-201 coaxial switch. Well first off the unit looked great, Maco made in the USA and nice feel when switching. Hooked all my units up and checked the SWR. SWR was elevated, a lot higher than what I would except. Took apart the Maco and saw the bare solid wires criss-crossing eachother. Some really close to the others. So I moved them for more space from eachother. Same results. I even cut up some foam shielding and slipped the insulation over the bare wires. Still elevated SWR. So I now checked more into the switch. If the switch from exact center is moved slightly either way the receive on the radio drops. Very touchy and now I label it to be crappy! So I do not recommend this one, Bulldog.

The coax insulation did not help. Switch was the issue!
