    Astatic D104-M6B Amplified Microphone

Here is the Astatic D104-M6B amplified microphone. Very popular model among some operators. Astatic with this newer model compared to the old one has change the external key up button from a full length one to more of a square button. I like the old style myself. It may take some time in dialing in the gain control for that sweet spot because it has pretty good pick up. Got the gain too high you will certainly have the background noise, sound tinny and scratchy. When set up right your voice will be loud, clear and may a slight amount of background noise when driving. When used at a base station environment you can run the gain control a little higher. The microphone does produce a sharper sound than some which makes it pretty good to punch through a crowded channel. It does take a little time to install the battery because the back cover has to be removed. The cord is light and flexable. Having a more square design and small key up button it may take some time to feel comfortable with it, Bulldog.

damn good microphone but the new style key button and switch are weak...gets very scratchy and have re-soldered the switch legs to the circuit board so many times the circuit board broke.....Had to order a new microphone and ended up ordering 5 new mics so when one breaks I could have some spare parts....

hey BD , how do you like the tone and modulation quality of this compared to a 2018 xtreme with the echo feature off and the NB on ? is the dial on the back easy to accidently move around ?

    thanks for another interesting review

Even though they use the same cartridge, the 575-m6 puts rings around the d-104. Not just in sound quality but also in comfort, workmanship, longevity, and overall quality. Shame they arent produced any longer.

how did you find out the use the same mic element ?
i've had my xtreme over 4 years and the only issue i had was the easily moved dials .... rubber O-rings fixed that though
