cobra 2000 gtl issue

've got two cobra 2000 gtl, both exhibiting the same issue.

no audio in recieve.

tried to see if i had audio thew the pa circuit and yes theres plenty there, as i read somewhere to check to see if audio was present there .
kinda at a loss here on this .
meters show im receiving signal , just not through the speakers or headphone jacks

ive tried ceaning the spkr select switch and to no avail , it acts the same way
any insight would be appreciated

done that and used my daily driver mic from my 101e and a adapter , still no dice !
im thinking what HV said , audio chip , but the pa section runs through it and the pa works fine
as well as it transmits modulated audio too

just no sound threw speakers or any of the phone jacks
beats the crap out of me ?
one radio i can see , but both of my 2000gtls having identical issues ?
what are the chances of having that.
