    1/4 wave tuning frustrations

    Hello All

So i have a set of 1/4 waves spaced 74 1/2 inches apart ..and i cant get any better then a 1.4 swr.. i tried all combo's ..1.4 is the magic number.
Strange thing is i tune the driven stick to 1.4 then install my reflect stick... it doesnt change anything. no matter how high or low it is.
Observation... i have a shorty antenna from Noisemaker.. with the reflect stick .. its 1.1 R55 x-0.. and works very well..
So with a tall 1/4 wave driven stick i cant get it to tune. What are the characteristics of too short spacing?. Do i need to go wider spacing with the taller driven stick?

    Thanks In Advance

Do it!! Lol. Heres a dumb thought. What if u isolate the hitch and tap the ground right at the base. I can make u an insulator 5" x 1.25" thick. Would have to lower the arm a few inches but is worth a try

Meaning tap the ground right to the 3/8 24 stud?.. if so thats how i have it. i see what you mean the insolator to get the antenna seperated from the mount...correct?

just thought of this too - the mag mount may also be the culprit - you have a capacitive ground and a physical ground going on - even though the rear is grounded to the mag mount - the mags are making a different ground and that may be bugging it out.
