get a texas star sweet 16 and keep the 98vhp under 100 watts pep .
BTW .... how much amperage can your vehicle supply ?
i plan on getting a 2 alt to wire in and set up just for the radio and amp wit 2 4d batteries so i think i will be covered on that i was looking into fatboy or x force or the like but will lok into texas star
witch one the 1200hd or the 1500 and it is eather that or the sweet 16
get a tnt 4 pill
i would think i would blow that up with this radio

1500 or sweet 16 . keep either under 1000 PEP/modulated power
2879's are 100 watt pep transistors according to Toshiba , the company that manufactures them . yes , they can show more on a watt meter but just doubling power has little real effect for a typical user and it will be the rare occasion that the difference is noticed in the form of making a contact that couldn't be made with half the power . however the doubling of power will add harmonics to your signal that can bleed into you or your neighbors electronics and can also cause splattering across multiple channels miles away for other cb'ers in your area .

i feel the the trade off isn't worth aggravating other radio operators miles away and neighbors or yourself in your home isn't worth the trivial once in a blue moon benefit ..... but you'll have to decide for yourself if you want to run a clean setup or a over driven station getting complaints from neighbors and other radio operators tuning to the source of splatter interfering with their receive . some folks take great pride in getting those complaints though ..... ignorance is bliss for them .
BTW .... look at the spec sheet and take note of the 6-10 watt typical to max input for max rated power . then scroll down to the IMD-po graph look at how the distortion is steadily rising after 60 watts ... they rate it at 100 watts because that's what they can cleanly do ... not because that all its capable of .
clean or dirty , it's your money and your property and your decision on how to run it .
afred, read the data sheet. its at 12.5 volts. 14.4 produces much more power and still be clean.
