    Recommendations for a base setup?

I'm pretty much a newbie to CBing and have a Uniden PRO520XL in my truck. I enjoy using that as well as using it in some games that a group of us play up here. Now I'd like to set up a good base station at home but I'm not sure what I need and what I should get to start off with. Can you give me some suggestions for a good set up?

Basic setup a solarcon A99 and you could run a small mobile in the house with a 30 dollar power supply if you dont want a full blown base radio

i'll recomend the workman w58 over the antron , it's electrically the same as a maco 58 . either antenna will get you talking though .

Thank you both for your suggestions. I'll look into all of them to compare and see what I can afford. My biggest fear is that I won't be able to afford a good enough setup to be able to reach the area I would like. I figure I can upgrade as I can afford to, though.

Save money and buy quality the first time. Rushing out and buying junk just to get on the air will be a disappointing waste of time and money.

Having to stick to a budget doesn't mean I'm going to buy junk, Beercanman. That's why I asked for recommendations to start with, because I want to get a good setup. However, I don't see any reason to not choose the lower price item if both come recommended.

for a starter antenna id say either a m-400 [starduster] or workman 5/8 both advailable at palco electronics.
these are both under 100 bucks and work decent. next up is coax DONT skimp on this get some double shielded
coax copper.com carries some called ca-400 ,not sure if palco has any or not. last is radio and thats just what
you want 4 a base setup. 40 ch with ssb .or just 40 channel only thats all up too you

Buy that galaxy and send it to Nickybots. That radio is the same as a 959 inside. He can really stomp on it for you.
