well ive found out its something like the silver eagle linear. i read that you should not put anymore than 2 watts dead key input. my cobra 29 turns out 24 watts when keyed. is there any issues here? any help would be much appreciated.

you mean modulated? If your 29 is dk 24 watts, then there is a bigger problem! Turn your mic gain all the way down and key the radio. That will give you the dead key power. The turn the mic gain back up and talk, that'll give you the modulated, or swing power. Start from there...

Well I will avoid popping it. I don't know if I missed anything, but can anyone tell me how I could set it all up to run correctly?

I'm sur e we can, but we need all the information first. What is the dead key power and what is the modulated power of your barefoot radio. Once we have accurate info there, we can give you the right info the first time.

Caveman, if you want to keep your AM Amp around for a while you'll need to drop the dead key to about 1-2watts or eventually it will be no more.

Here is a link to how to drop the carrier and even mod it to be adjustible just in case you don't feel like using you amp...did this on my 29 LX work great...

Send them both to Tallman. Let him look at your radio / amp. If you have a 24 watt dead key some has changed the finals. But like 619 said, we need more info to give you or guide you in the right direction.
