Speaker Bar As An External Speaker For CB Radio.

    "Hello"

Was curious, if anyone has tried to use a speaker bar, for an external speaker for their CB radio?

I have read a few comments, about the speaker having some feedback issues... possibly, due to response

    frequency of the speaker bar.

What is a great external speaker, to use for CB, in a cab of a pick-up? Also, are there any external

speakers for CB, that have any static reducing features on them?

Thank-you, for any input on this issue.

Check out the portable battery powered external speakers for laptops. They have great response and can even be stereo.

I use bookshelf stereo speakers or passive speakers from desktop computer work stations. As long as they’re near eight ohms you’re golden. You can put a high pass filter cap in line on the positive lead to the speaker that will act as a high cut.

I have a bookshelf speaker in my 2020 Cascadia in the upper compartment and it sounds loud and clear. CB Radio external speakers off the shelf are unacceptable poor quality always have been Don’t know why. I love the full rounded sound of AM clean and loud. Keep it between the lines driver.

I used one of these from a desktop monitor...it used to mount under the monitor. Ran power wire to fuse panel and then used a mono to stereo adapter in between mono jack & radio...sounded decent...made a couple brackets then slid it up on center console in my XJ. Reach down and turn knob on...then I had two volume controls, one on speaker & one on radio

But by far, my best find on external speakers has been eBay purchased Motorola speakers...HSN4005A model# has 8ohm speakers...they sound great!
    I got these 3 shipped for $20

The Motorola speakers are perfect in vehicles...been using them for years....ebay usually has them listed all the time...only thing is, on most of them you will need to replace the plug-n-jack so it can be plugged in to your CB.

Yeah well I have to put a plug on the bookshelf speakers to plug in to the radio so it’s not much different. I’ve used the Motorola speakers from surplus sources, they’re better than the cb market external speakers imo but I like the sound of a good two way bookshelf speaker better. With one pair I made one for my bench and one for the freightliner. I’m looking for another pair to make an analog Atari punk type synth for my musically talented oldest son to play with. I’m thinking a rechargeable battery, a cheap dso scope kit for visual display on the front and a combination of knobs and circuit board organ keys on top. I’ll post a pic when I build it.
