    Cobra Extra Channel Kits

Yesterday, I went to the local C.B. Shop (R&R Communications) and Rus told me that my radio is worth more than I thought it was, not because of the radio, but what it has put in it which is an extra channel kit 40 up and 40 down. When I asked him why, he told me that they don't make extra channel kits for Cobra's anymore, so he told me if I ever want to buy another Cobra to have the channel kit taken out and put in the new one, because if not I'll have to buy a Stryker, Ranger, or Galaxy DX radio.
Just figured I'd let everyone know.

i've got two 148GTL's with 100 channels each extra.i've only listened on them and haven't transmitted on them since i hadn't known until recently what frequencies they were.really not too many people in my area still on the CB so i am setting up a base so i can reach out further and hear further and make more local(Mass&NH)contacts and hopefully make use of these extra channels.
i just bought a sweet ass 148F and can't wait to get that next week.it doesn't have extra channels and i may not put the channel mod on them unless after i set up the base,i find that a good deal of people are operating on those frequencies.i love the built in frequency counter and have wanted a 148F for a long time.

I have this in my old 148. What freqs does this give me? The guy that did it for me is long ago passed and the guys that I used to chat with are far away. Can this be done to all/most radios?
